“Brazilian Eagle’s Speed” is an Amburana Barrel Aged Imperial Stout coming in at 13.2% ABV. It spent 27 months in the most expensive wood on the planet. This was my first time using these types of barrels, but certainly not my last. Next time my barrel connection is Brazil gets more, I will definitely grab as many as I can. These beautiful barrels cost nearly $3,000 each after shipping, which is twelve to fifteen times the amount of a standard bourbon barrel these days. I love the character of the wood, it reminded me of a mild cigar dipped in coconut. The Stout took on deep woody notes, vanilla, marzipan, brown sugar, milk chocolate, and samoa cookie flavors from this unique wood.
