Tides of wind drop into the stillness, but much work is to be done behind shuttered blinds. Sleepless Nights is a Helles lager utilizing Amarillo sourced from the variety’s birthplace, Virgil Gamache Farms. This beer pours a beautiful pale golden color with a tireless white head. On first inspection, classic biscuit, and honey flavors give way to a novel but restrained hop character. The combination of American and German-grown Amarillo leaves a lasting chorus of grapefruit, orange, and lemon on the palate. Sleepless Nights is built on a traditional malt bill, with an exceptionally soft and dry finish that entices another sip. It’s a welcome companion for night owls unwillingly burning the midnight oil!
