For sale is the best extended aged rev barleywine share/horizontal listed on MBC; no other listing like this has been posted, and likely never will be again (certainly not from me, some of these are my last examples, sadly). These 8 beers represent the pinnacle of barleywine production from one of the style's chief pioneers. With the exception of beers like Deal with the Devil and Aaron, the beers in this listing may be the most coveted to ever be produced.

DB VSOJ: Double Barrel Very Special Old Jacket is a cuvée of barrel-aged English Barleywines aged between one and three years before blending and rebarreling in Templeton Rye barrels for an additional eighteen months. This years-long maturation results in harmonic malt complexity and uncharted depths of flavor. A smattering of French oak casks provides a barrel expression as broad as it is intense. The absolute pinnacle of our Barleywine journey to date. 16.8%

VSOJ 2024: A celebration of malt, oak, and patience, Very Special Old [Straight] Jacket is a cuvée of English Barleywines aged between two and four years in our favorite bourbon barrels embellished with single-origin French oaks. Lusciously sweet and colossally complex, V.S.O.J. is equal parts refinement and excess 14.4%

VSOJ 2021: A celebration of malt, oak, and patience, Very Special Old [Straight] Jacket is a cuvée of English Barleywines each aged between two and three years in our favorite bourbon barrels. Lusciously sweet and colossally complex, V.S.O.J. is equal parts refinement and excess. 15%

Cherry VSOJ: A blend of sweet and tart unfermented cherries accentuate a calvalcade of fruity malt characteristics in this two-years-aged monument to English Barleywine. A tandem of single origin, fire-toasted French oaks inserted into the bourbon barrels during aging provide bready, spicy aromatics remenicient of brioche and pie crust, and help each decadant sip finish long and dry. 12%

VSOR Select: This exceptionally discerning Ryewine blend uses hand-selected bourbon and rye barrels from Binny's Beverage Depot to burnish the luminous malt complexities formed by a two-year stay in that premium oak. Inviting yet balanced sweetness is counterweighted by aromatic oak and assertive rye, with ambrosial notes of maple and vanilla evoked at every turn. 15.7%

VSOR 2022: Gold Winner at the 2019 Festival of Barrel Aged Beers (Fobab). Owing to two years in premium rye whiskey barrels this slightly sweeter blend of our “Ryewine” oozes with malt-derived complexities reminiscent of maple and enough oak to build a bedroom set. With a grist comprised of over sixty percent rye, Very Special Old Ryeway is deceptively balanced given its super-massive body. 15.4%

VSO Gravedigger: Aged two winters, our beloved Imperial Scotch Ale ascends from Eagle Rare, Elijah Craig, and WhistlePig Rye barrels ready to satiate thirst or rebel against the crown. Notes of toffee, maple, and dried fruit accented with subtle beechwood smokiness smoulder within an oak structure as sturdy as a stone hearth. 14.9%
